The "upholstered" bump-out is actually the concealed stovepipe from the woodstove in the family room below.  The previous owners put corkboard around this is camouflage it.  If we had used this as the office, I would have likely kept that, but it didn't fit for a guest room.  So I bought some fabric as close to the color of the walls as I could, and sewed a giant sheet that is hung with thumbtacks over the corkboard.  Voila -- functional wall art!

Though we have never actually slept in this space, it is still technically a bedroom, so it belongs in our "sleeping spaces".

"Carpet room" before

We call this the carpet room because it was a good identifier -- it's the only bedroom with carpeting!  This will likely be a nursery eventually , but right now is just a spare junk room.  I won't make you cringe by posting a picture of our version of "after" now, but I'm sure there will be updates eventually!
